The Cosmic Bat Nebula, a 12-light-year-long stellar nursery, is about 1,400 light-years away in the constellation Ophiuchus. This dense molecular cloud blocks light from both background stars and the nearby reflection nebula LBN 7. Young stars, recently formed within its dense gaseous knots, illuminate the nebula from within, giving it an eerie glow.
