Omega Centauri

“Oh my god, it’s full of stars!” – David Bowman, 2001 a Space Odyssey

10,000,000 stars that is! Omega Centauri, the most massive globular cluster in the Milky Way, extends over a distance of 150 light years. The core of this cluster is incredibly dense, with stars being on average only 0.1 light years apart from each other. Omega Centauri is among the few globular clusters that can be seen with the naked eye, especially when viewed from a remote dark location.
