Pavo Galaxy

Located in the Peacock constellation, NGC 6744 is an intermediate spiral galaxy that is roughly 30 million light-years away. It bears a striking resemblance to our very own Milky Way Galaxy in a few ways. Besides its wispy arms and elongated nucleus, it also boasts at least one distorted companion galaxy that is reminiscent of our Magellanic Clouds. This celestial body was unveiled by the Scottish astronomer James Dunlop on June 30, 1826, from Parramatta, Australia
