Located 200,000 light-years away in the Small Magellanic Cloud are two vibrant star-forming regions, NGC 346 and NGC 371. NGC 346 is the galaxy’s most brilliant stellar nursery, containing thousands of massive young stars. Nearby, the open cluster NGC 371 is distinguished by its high concentration of variable stars. Astronomers study the pulsations of these stars to learn about their internal structures.
